本品にはアスタキサンチンが含まれます。アスタキサンチンには記憶力に衰えを感じている健常な中高年の認知機能の一部である視覚的な記憶力(図形を認識し、記憶してから思い出す力)の維持に役立つ機能が報告されています。また、アスタキサンチンには眼のピント調節機能を維持し、パソコンやスマートフォンの使用による一時的な眼の疲労感を緩和する機能や眼の使用による腰や肩の負担を和らげることが報告されています。さらに、抗酸化作用をもつアスタキサンチンは、肌の水分保持に役立ち、肌の潤いを守るのを助ける（肌の保湿力を維持する）機能があること、つまり肌のバリア機能（保湿力）を維持することが報告されています。
