本品にはアスタキサンチンが含まれます。アスタキサンチンは、目のピント調節機能を助け、パソコンやスマートフォンの使用による一時的な目の疲労感を軽減する機能、VDT作業中の中高年の方の視力の維持をサポートする機能が報告されています。なお、近視や遠視などの屈折異常を改善するものではありません。さらに、記憶力に衰えを感じている健常な中高年の認知機能の一部である視覚的な記憶力（図形を認識し、記憶してから思い出す力）の維持に役立つ機能が報告されています。
