本品には、ルテイン、ゼアキサンチン、アスタキサンチンが含まれます。ルテイン、ゼアキサンチンは年齢とともに低下する認知機能の一部である判断力（変化する状況に応じて適切に対処したり、推論したりする能力）、注意力（一つのことに集中したり、複数の物事に注意を向けられる能力）を維持することが報告されています。また、黄斑部の色素を増加させ、ブルーライトの光ストレスから目を保護し、ぼやけの緩和によってはっきりと見る力（コントラスト感度）やグレア回復（まぶしさから回復する視機能）をサポートすることが報告されています。アスタキサンチンは正常な目のピント調節機能を維持することで、日常的なパソコンやスマートフォン、電子ゲームなどのVDT作業による目の疲労感や、目の使用による肩や腰の負担を軽減することが報告されています。
