本品にはルテイン、ゼアキサンチンが含まれます。ルテイン、ゼアキサンチンには、眼の網膜の黄斑色素量を増やす働きがあり、パソコン・スマホのブルーライトや紫外線などの光ストレスから保護したり、コントラスト感度（ぼやけ・かすみの軽減によりくっきり見る力）を改善して、目の調子を整えることが報告されています。さらに健常な高齢者の加齢によって低下する認知機能の一部である判断力（変化する状況に応じて適切に対処したり、推論したりする能力）、注意力（一つのことに集中したり、複数の物事に注意を向けられる能力）を維持する機能があることが報告されています。
