本品に含まれるアスタキサンチン、ルテイン・ゼアキサンチンには以下の機能が報告されています。＜アスタキサンチン＞①肌の水分保持に役立ち、肌の潤いを守るのを助ける。②目のピント調節機能を維持し、VDT作業による一時的な目の疲労感を軽減する、目の使用による肩や腰の負担を和らげる。③VDT作業における中高年の方の視力の維持をサポートする。なお、近視や遠視などの屈折異常を改善するものではありません。④記憶力に衰えを感じている健常な中高年の認知機能の一部である視覚的な記憶力（図形を認識し、記憶してから思い出す力）の維持に役立つ。＜ルテイン・ゼアキサンチン＞①目の黄斑色素密度を増やし、ブルーライトなどの光刺激から目を保護し、コントラスト感度（ぼやけの軽減によりくっきり見る力）を改善する。②健常な高齢者の加齢に伴い低下する認知機能の一部である判断力（変化する状況に応じて適切に対処したり、推論したりする能力）、注意力（一つのことに集中したり、複数の物事に注意を向けられる能力）を維持する。
