Femmes enceintes ou allaitantes, consulter un professionnel de santé. Déconseillé aux personnes souffrant de maladies ayant pour conséquence une accumulation anormale de fer (hémochromatose, polyglobulie...) ou souffrant de troubles de la thyroïde, aux personnes âgées ou atteintes de néphropathie, aux adolescents et aux enfants. Le bêta-carotène est déconseillé aux fumeurs. La supplémentation en magnésium peut provoquer des effets laxatifs chez certaines personnes.
