  • Worth watching benzyl alcoholClassified under the CLP Regulation: eye irritation, category 2 (Eye Irrit. 2); skin sensitisation, category 1B (Skin Sens. 1B). Allergen to declare: Annex III, entry 45, requires it to be named in the ingredient list above 0.001% in a leave-on product and 0.01% in a rinse-off product, so that allergic people can avoid it.
  • Worth watching citralClassified under the CLP Regulation: skin irritation, category 2 (Skin Irrit. 2); skin sensitisation, category 1 (Skin Sens. 1).
  • Worth watching geraniolClassified under the CLP Regulation: skin sensitisation, category 1 (Skin Sens. 1). Allergen to declare: Annex III, entry 78, requires it to be named in the ingredient list above 0.001% in a leave-on product and 0.01% in a rinse-off product, so that allergic people can avoid it.

  • For information calcium hydroxideAnnex III, entry 15c, requires a warning that depends on the type of product: Hair straighteners containing two components: calcium hydroxide and a guanidine salt: “Contains alkali. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Can cause blindness”; pH ajuster for depilatories: “Contains alkali. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes”. None for: Other uses (e.g. pH adjuster, processing aid).
