Déconseillé chez les personnes présentant un dysfonctionnement thyroïdien, une cardiopathie, une insuffisance rénale, ou suivant un traitement par un médicament contenant de l'iode ou du lithium ou un traitement anticoagulant sans avis médical. La population visée est les femmes en âge de procréer pour qui l'effet bénéfique est obtenu par la consommation journalière d'au moins 400 µg d'acide folique, au moins 1 mois avant la conception et jusqu'à 3 mois après la conception (selon l’Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail (ANSES), prenant en compte les limites de sécurité ainsi que les apports pour la population française provenant d’autres sources alimentaires). Ne pas dépasser la dose journalière conseillée et ne pas utiliser pendant plus de 10 semaines consécutives sans avis médical.
