Ne convient pas aux femmes enceintes ou qui allaitent et aux enfants de moins de 12 ans. L'effet bénéfique est obtenu par la consommation journalière de 3 g de glucomannane en trois doses de 1 g chacune, prises avec 1 à 2 verres d'eau, avant les repas et dans le cadre d'un régime hypocalorique. A consommer avec beaucoup d'eau pour garantir l'ingestion de la substance jusqu'à l'estomac (risque de suffocation en cas de difficultés de déglutition ou en cas d'ingestion avec un fluide inadéquat).
