Cosméticos declarados en California
El California Safe Cosmetics Program (CSCP), integrado en el California Department of Public Health, publica las notificaciones de las empresas. La ley californiana obliga a las empresas afectadas a notificar los cosméticos vendidos en California que contienen ingredientes conocidos o sospechosos de causar cáncer o efectos sobre la reproducción, en particular los de la lista Proposition 65.
Una notificación no es una prueba del producto ni informa sobre la cantidad de sustancia. No basta para concluir que existe un riesgo durante el uso. Un producto cuya comercialización se ha interrumpido puede seguir en las tiendas. Una sustancia retirada de una fórmula sigue siendo visible en el historial. Las normas de la Unión Europea son distintas: la ficha del ingrediente indica cuáles se aplican.
