Cosmetics in Japan: prohibited, restricted and authorised ingredients

In Japan, the Ministry of Health's Standards for Cosmetics (Notification No 331 of 2000) set out prohibited substances (Annex 1), substances limited by product type (Annex 2) and the only authorised preservatives and UV filters (Annexes 3 and 4). Authorised ‘tar’ colourants are governed by a 1966 ordinance.

For information only: these rules do not affect sales in France. 225 included entries, source text reproduced unchanged.
